Backerkit Update +SAMPLE CARD IMAGES/VIDEO!!!!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Sep 02, 2020 at 09:48:25 PM

Hey everyone,

As you can imagine, the past few days have been both exciting and overwhelming. The MetaZoo team just wants to reiterate how amazed we are with how the community rallied behind the cause, and continues to in the first days post campaign.

The Backerkit (AKA Pledge Manager) is being set up right now with plans to be released on 9/14. It is during this time that you'll be able to add your address, add any add-ons to your order (all pledge tiers are their Kickstarter prices, plus some other goodies!), and finalize the order so that the product is ready to ship to your doorstep as soon as possible.

What's an update though without a little excitement?! Check out the images and videos below, and remember to always reach out with questions if you have them. Let's continue to grow this community.

These sample cards will be sent out first thing next week! And once again, if you're interested in preorders, these are available here: https://metazoo-cryptid-nation-a-tcg-where-your-surroundings-ma.backerkit.com/hosted_preorders

LAST 24 HOURS! + Signature Series + Referrals
over 5 years ago – Sat, Aug 29, 2020 at 06:04:37 PM

Hey everyone! What an exciting past few days. Yesterday in particular was amazing - we absolutely crushed the 200+ backers goal I thought would take us until the end of today to achieve.

As a result, let's shoot for the stars! Introducing the last goal we want to reach in terms of the number of backers:

Signature Series

That's right - if we get 225 total backers, every backer gets a signed card by one of their favorite artists!

Not only that, but we are introducing a last minute referral program. If you get a friend, family member, pet to pledge (EVEN $1!) you get a Blister Pack. Do this as many times as you would like, there is no limit to the number of Blister Packs you can get from this. All you have to do is get your friend/family/pet to pledge and then shoot me a message with your name on it so I know who got them to join the MetaZoo community. These Blister Packs will be added to your order once we begin shipping out fulfillments.

Let's hit that $20k goal so we can have our custom holographic design! Now's the time to make this happen. Thanks again for everyone and their incredible contributions. This is happening!

LAST 48 HOURS and Special Offer!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Aug 28, 2020 at 10:42:47 PM

Special Offer

As we enter into the final 48 hours, we want to push the community to grow as large as possible. The best way that we can offer something to new pledges without alienating everyone in our current community members is by giving free stuff away to everyone

For this reason, if we get 200 or more pledges total in before the campaign ends, we will be giving away a free Blister Pack to everyone who has ever pledged to MetaZoo.

Tell your friends, tell your family, tell anyone who is on the fence about donating. Even $1 and access to the Pledge Manager goes a long way toward growing our community. Let's make these next 48 hours count!

Booster Pack Makeup!
over 5 years ago – Fri, Aug 28, 2020 at 03:57:35 PM

So, many MetaZoo fans ask: What will the composition of the booster packs be?

In each Booster Pack, there will be 11 additional cards. The composition of these will be (in order):

  • 1 Aura/Terra Card
  • 1 Gold Card (Holographic or Reverse Holographic)
  • 3 Silver Cards
  • 6 Bronze Cards

The reverse holographic cards deserve some explanation. They will have a holographic logo of MetaZoo over the art in the bottom left corner. The Beastie/Cryptid/Artifact/Potion itself will also be holographic (rather than the background of the art like in a normal holographic rare). Every card has a chance of being a reverse holo, so collectors take note.

The odds of pulling a holographic card are 1/3 of every Booster Pack, which means the odds of pulling a reverse holographic card are 2/3. Every pack contains a holographic layer to one card though, which means it will be impossible to weigh our booster packs.

This is a simple update, but we think it's an important one. With 93 base set holographic cards, each pack guarantees a surprise. We are happy to answer questions about this, especially as we enter into the final 48 hours of our campaign!

For the Record: What will the First Edition Print Run size be? + Sneak Peak at our Booster Box!
over 5 years ago – Wed, Aug 26, 2020 at 04:22:34 PM

For the sake of transparency, let's discuss print run size. This also allows us to get ahead of collectors, any number of decades in the future, who will try to either underestimate or overestimate the print run size of our First Edition Cryptid Nation Booster Box.

Right now, the plan is for there to be:

  • 5000 Booster Boxes
  • 2000 Spellbooks
  • 1000 Tribal Theme Deck Cases

The Booster Boxes look like the following:

Obviously the first people to get access to this print run will be you, our loyal and excited Kickstarter pledgers. We are currently in talks with Distributors and LGSs that will likely exhaust the rest of the First Edition print run - we will then move into the "Unlimited Edition", which will have a 5-10 to 1 size ratio with the First Edition, and this will be our general strategy moving forward. In the event that we have an Unlimited Edition, we will disclose the print run size as soon as we can.

We see this transparency as being a key part of the collectibility of this product. There is a risk with every TCG that the scarcity of the product can be overstated/understated for the sake of deflating/inflating the prices in the secondary market. People take advantage of this uncertainty to take advantage of novice collectors. Just look at the current secondary market in Pokemon - all it takes is a massive Youtuber to call a Booster Box currently selling for $1000 on eBay a $3000 Booster Box, and prices adjust to this almost immediately. Meanwhile the actual scarcity of the product justified the initial price of $1000/36 = $28, and yet the Youtuber is selling the booster packs individually during a live stream for $3000/36 =  $83. These novice collectors can't even take advantage of the inflated prices because the booster packs are opened live on screen. We feel this trend is somewhat criminal and detrimental to the community at large, and we want to do our best to prevent this from happening with MetaZoo many years down the line.

We want to eliminate this uncertainty so that the only factor that's unknown is how many sealed Booster Boxes remain in circulation.

If any of you have any ideas regarding other ways we can maintain a healthy community and approach to collectibility, we would love to hear them!
